I think Aruba is sometimes seen as a little too glossy, too perfect, too Americanized. Everything is smooth, everyone seems super happy, and the island is dominated by resorts serving buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It can come across as slightly superficial, to be honest. The expensive yachts in the marina, the crispy clean shopping malls, and everywhere you turn you’re met with a polished look. And it is true. There are a lot of Americans holidaying here, there are plenty of resorts, and you can find McDonald’s, Wendy and Kentucky Fried Chicken around the corner. So where’s the charm? Where’ the soul? Zeerover is where! Zeerover is located in a small seaside town called Savaneta. Right on the water’s edge lies this the most idyllic fast food joint you can imagine. It’s where locals come to spend time with their family and friends; to unwind, have a couple of beers, play pool and enjoy some of that amazing deep-fried stuff fresh from the sea, served in simple, red baskets.
